Artist and personal website

Nowadays being online is really important. If one does not have their page on social media - it is almost like they do not truly and completely exist. It definitely refers to artists as well. Even if their work does not fit properly into the virtual space, they still should have some kind of representation online. Most internet users spend their time on social media, so for artists, it is extremely important to have an account on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or better everywhere. It also might be important to make registration and post art on some specific artist platforms such as DeviantArt or Patreon, because that is the place where people are looking specifically for artists and for their art.

As for a personal website, it is not that clear. Elder people think having a personal website is extremely important and professional, while younger ones are attached more to social media and are not going to really use that feature. I personally think having a website is a great decision for artists who are selling their art or making different kinds of projects, so it would be easier to sort the content. It is also a nice decision for those who are making that kind of art, which might be hard to fit into popular social media, such as online flash games. It also depends on the audience of an artist and their ambitions. Having a personal website might be really important for people who are planning to place their art in galleries, and not that important for somebody who is making comics about their everyday life.

If I would be making my own website, I would prefer something old-fashioned and really colourful. My favourite website is “lingscars.com”, because of its design. It has nothing to do with artists, but I am so excited about its fun and old-looking style. For some reason, I really like the old format of websites, and find them really easy to navigate. Maybe it shouldn’t be that kitsch after all, and it might be more modern if it will keep the navigation system. But I definitely wouldn’t like my website to be something too modern and minimalistic such as “christinavanessa.com” or “logomachine.ru”. I guess those website formats with huge pictures and long pages are more suitable for the phones, while it is really annoying to scroll through them on pc. But it is the trend nowadays, and people seem to like it, making a website with a radically different design will be a risk.
