Mother's ugly heart

In Ukraine, Kramatorsk town, there is a monument called “The mother's heart”. It is made with granite, in the form, that should remind heart. The statue stands on the pedestal, with a little poem about mother, made with some general phrases as “Mother is snow, the mother is an autumn leaf” and “mother is serenity, happiness and beauty”. In the middle of the monument, there is a tetrahedral prism with photos of children of different nations. Five arcs around it are connected in the middle and should symbolize five continents. There are images of the white doves on each, probably as a symbol of peace in the world. On top of the construction there is a sphere with an image on it, makes it look like an Earth. Generally, this monument should represent children in mothers heats on the whole planet, and mothers feelings and efforts that are holding the Earth.

Generally, it looks tasteless and reminds gravestone by its material and white images on it. Some modern art form or classic statue would fit better. As an example it might be a statue of a child in the position of an embryo, that takes a heart shape form in one or several foreshortenings. It might be a little person in the age of 1-3 years, so the idea would be more clear, or a teenager, what would make the monument less recognizable, but would illustrate more ideas. Placing a teenager might represent women is a mother even without giving birth to a child and raising him from the first weeks of his life. Also, depending on how does the teenager looks, it also could be an illustration of the fact, kids are always kids to the mom, and no matter how old they are, they are still in her heart.

Another detail in the original monument is an Earth. It would be better to move it into the child's hand, since all children are future adults and they would live in this world, and change it.

It might be done with a common one-colored solid material, or better with something, what will make the monument hollow and a bit transparent. For example glass or wire. Continuing this idea, the aria inside of the statue might be filled with some objects representing the ideas and things parents give the child, what literally forms what is going to be. Some of these objects should also be placed into the Earth, since the way the person was treated in childhood, affects the way he would treat the world. The statue also might be filled with real letters on some other stuff, that would make the statue more sensitive or thoughtful.

In the end, it probably would be better to call it “parents heart” not mothers. But this idea is questionable since on the one hand fathers are also participating in a child's life and care about their kids, so their role and their love should be equal. On the other hand, this monument is located in Ukraine, where children are still generally are raised by mothers, and saying both parents are equal won't be true and might injure some mothers.
