How to find a perfect grant?

There are several aspects I may focus on while choosing a grant for my project. The main one is about its form – since I am making a zine, I can find something about supporting individual printing projects. Secondly, it is about raising children, so if there are some grants that would like to provide money for people, who would like to artistically illustrate important topics, it also would be a great opportunity. But I really doubt there is something that specific. 

I also may try to find some companies that support Ukrainian artists, but probably I won’t look for that, because of the situation my country faced today. People, who actually live in Ukraine need that more. Plus, my project would be made in Russian and English, so it might be kind of disrespectful. Finding Russian grants would be the best in terms of what this zine is about, but again, because of today’s situation, I won’t even be able to receive or spend the money. Another good choice would be UAE since it is the country I’ve collected data from. I could try to search for it, Sharjah (emirate of art) may have some grants to suggest, but probably it mostly supports Muslim art.

I went through lots of websites while trying to find the grant. Most of them were out of date, or zine wasn’t fitting artistic form, or they won’t accept students, so I haven’t saved those links. For some of the grants, my nation wasn’t fitting the criteria, since it is something local.

Also, I have seen lots of grants saying something such as “we are looking for something cool, show us what you have, and we may give you money”. I could try for that, but it is too abstract, and I wanted to find something my project would be a better fit for. Plus with such a huge variety of possible competitors, I would lower my chances to win the grant.

I have spent lots of time on formulating the correct way to google what I am looking for. After several days, and after asking other students and my friends for friends I gave up and just googled “grant for a zine”. Surprisingly it actually worked! “https://vanalanclark.libguides.com/Zines/ZineGrant” turned out to be the best proposal. Plus, my zine would be added to the library in the USA and the museum in Japan and I am really excited about it.
