What has changed

During this semester I’ve discovered plenty of new information and faced my fears. I finally made myself a CV and discovered how it should be done. I’ve never before heard about grants, but now I know there is this opportunity and how can I apply for it. Also, the project itself showed me the path I would like to follow, and the type of content I would really enjoy making during my life. It shows me how can find myself in magazines and the printing industry – I could make articles, layouts, characters and covers, posters, etc. Now I am really looking forward to developing this project, participating in other zines, and looking for a job in this industry. Before I was really concerned about who and why would need my skills, and if I even have any skills at all. Now I know I do, and understand at least one direction where it would be useful and enjoyable for me.

In the beginning of the semester I felt really depressed and lost the plan for life I had before, and had no idea what and where I wish to be in three years. Now I look at the future optimistically. I feel confident enough to participate in events and promote my art. I feel myself like I’ve done something great and what I can be proud of, and it really helps me with my confidence and self-esteem.
For now, I would like to see myself as an employee who participates in developing magazines. I also would like to continue this project, or creating new ones, and hopefully get my own audience and sell my zines and comics. I also would like to receive commissions, and read more information about scientific and social topics, and make it an interesting, fun and unusual ways so more people may know about these topics. My goal is still not that clear, but that’s because I see plenty satisfaction opportunities and really look forward to them.
Another interesting thing to mention, is that I would like to start studying new programs for drawing and also a suitable software for magazine creation. Since during this semester I haven’t felt myself as completely shifting on new unknown software, so I continued working with ones, I am familiar with, and it really slowed my down. In Paint Tool SAI there are is no text feature, so I need to handwrite everything, what is really limiting and time consuming. There is lack of other interesting features I’ve seen in Clip Studio and other popular digital art apps. So making drawings in SAI also slows me down, since I need to manually do things that are built in other programs. So I would like to learn new software.
