About Image Circle

In the image circle there was a specific strategy - to post an image, that would associate with the last one posted.

The first connection was pretty simple; it was the reaction on the famous scene from Hayao Miyazaki's animated movie – My Neighbor Totoro. On the picture, there is two girls (one holding another) and a big fluffy creature near them – Totoro. They are staying on the bus stop, the girl holds an umbrella, Totoro holds a leaf in the same way. Tags: rain, cartoon (anime). Nothing concrete, something that would include both. That’s how the first image was found.

Second image the connection for was created – bag of flour with eggs and white jug on the background. The association is a logical continuation – flour, eggs, and probably milk would become a pie.

The last picture demonstrates a piece of the rock with some signs and runes on it. It looks like texture in the game, so the association wasn’t really rational – it just popped up in the mind the elder scrolls V game. Probably because of the runes, they had a place in the game. It was more subconscious. So random beautiful screenshot from the game was found.

Images and associations, in general, seems to be pretty linear.The image of the fruit shop was continued with another shop, full of puppets, what was continued with the photo of the doll from the horror movie, logically supplemented by the poster from another horror movie. Two next photos are illustrating objects from the movie on the poster – paper boat and a yellow raincoat. Then the atmosphere becomes more friendly, and raincoat proceeds with rain itself on the scene from the famous Japanese movie, continued with a girl made in the same anime style, running on the huge puddle, with the sky reflection on it, and so on.

Here are some other interesting connections. For example, the image of an eye with the image of drugs after it probably had an association of dilated pupil as the reaction for drugs. Or how the photo of the pie was continued with the shot from Life of Pi movie, because of sound similarity between words pie and pi. Some visual associations also might be interesting, such as an image of jellyfish and old umbrella, since they are similar by form and by colour.

There are some interesting connections with themes raised in the lessons. Such as photo of Melanie Martinez, an artist, making modern songs on socially meaningful themes, and some slut-shaming, menstruation, plastic surgery as well. Especially in her las movie K-12, with lots of feminist ideas in it.

Another interesting moment is located in the middle of the image circle, six blue images going one after another. It reminds drawing class homework with the task to make a picture in one colour, where some of students have chosen blue.

A general idea of the image circle is unclear. It looks like a dialogue, jumping from one theme into another. Some of the discussions are continuous, and some pictures look like a random phase, without any development.
